A strange new entity from Athos Greece has been heard from 1972.
There were expeditions until 1985 but after that,
the only station heard was SV2ASP and almost only on 20 meter SSB.
His signal was well received in Japan, but it was only one band mode and not on other bands or CW.
SY are not particulary high ranked in the world, but in Japan, 90 % are from 20m SSB.
We hope for other bands and CW.

This entity is not particularly rare for European and American stations....
But from JA it is considered rare and is still ranked high due to the fact that propagation conditions are not as good.
Even though small Dx-peditions have occured every year,
contacts from the Far East are still not very large scale.

In the past there have been seven Dx-peditions there.
However conditions between West Africa and JA do not allow a very long operating window.
It seems the best propagation time is in the evening (local time)
and via Long Pass and is the best in late Autumn and early Winter season.
It is a hard zone from JA (Zone 36) which includes the 3C0 area.

South Orkney Island has a South Pole observation base, but it appears that Ham activity is not high.
There have been a few DX-peditions from the neighboring rare entity South Sandwich and South Georgia during the last ten years,
but not on a large scale and operation has been sporadic.

YV0 Aves Is. is a Venezuelan territory, uninhabited island.
It occupies a rare entity position in the world and propagation from Japan is difficult.
It seems that entry to the island is not particularly difficult in regard to landing there so it appears that perhaps the problem is in regard to licensing.
It also appears that the size of the island is becoming less due to erosion.
Some people say that the island will be gone in another one hundred years.
In 2004 there was a DX-pedition there, but it was of short duration.During 2006,
SFI was almost bottomed out, so propagation was mainly on 20 meters.
YX0A/YX0LIX provided a great service to JA Hams.

Saint Barthelemy separated from FS / French Saint Martin group, and was added as a new entity from 8 Dec 2007.
Soon after a few DXpeditions were found there, but unfortunately, 2007 was at the bottom of propagation conditions.
So only a few Big-Guns got through, mainly on 40m's from JA. Almost all ... possibly 95% of JAs still have no QSOs, even in the HF high bands.
I still don't know what FJ is in the DXCC position.
I think during 2008 it will be in the 3-5th position.
We are hopeful conditions will improve this year.

In regard to the most wanted TOP entities, they are regularly covered by many magazines and the Web, but how about the LAST ten entities ?
The left ten entities are from the DXCC 2000 announcement. Perhaps the word " LAST " is not as meaningful as MOST SOUGHT AFTER. It is my contention that rankings depend entirely from where they are viewed from in regard to world location.... ie viewed from Japan or viewed from Europe or North or South America.
I do not have statistics, but I would like to make my own forecast in regard to the "Most NOT needed entities from Japan" and contrast to the "Most 10 popular entities from JA". Perhaps upon viewing this, you will be surprised, as seen from a NA or EU perspective.
