stitch & sew
stitching polylines & sewing polybelts

introduction

"Stitch & Sew" are 5 command plugins for polygon-modeling.
Stitch Center, Stitch Side and Stitch Patch are used on Point-Tool.
Sew Center and Sew Side are used on Polygon-Tool.
By these, you can stitch a polylines or polybelt, and you can patch with the polygon.

Requires: Cinema4DXL v6.3 or later.

*This plugin is
shareware.
*You can use this for free. But there is functional-retrictions.(10 points or 5 polygons)
*If you pay
$5, You can get full function. Please see here about registration.

explanation

1. Stitch Center & Stitch Side

"Stitch Center/Side" stitchs the points selected as the line.

a) Center and Side

"Stitch Center " stitchs the points at the center. "Stitch Side " stitchs the points at either side. When stitching at side, it asks "Do you try other side?" in the dialog. Thereby, you can choose side without Undo-function.

b) What's the Polyline?

"Stitch Center/Side" functions based on the the polyline.
The polyline is formed by polygon's sides connected. (Polygon's diagonals isn't connected.) And the polyline must not branch in the many directions. One point must not be connected with 3 or more points.

c) Stitching 1 Polyline

You can stitch 1 polyline. This line must be formed by even-number points.
If it is open-line, it is folded up in a half.

If it is close-line, it is folded up in acutest angle part.

If there is no acutest angle, it is folded up in lowest point-number. When you want to stitch by your means, please reform shape of the line.

If it is close-line of 4 points, it welds both opposite sides. At Stitch Center, it can weld in 2ways. At Stitch Side, it can weld in 4ways.

d) Stitching 2 Polylines

You can stitch 2 polylines. Number of points must be same in both lines.
If both lines are open-line, near end-points in each lines are welded, and all other points are welded in order.

If one is open-line and another is close-line, end-point of lower number in open-line and point near it in close-line are welded, and all other points are welded in order.
If both are close-line, point of lowest number in all and point near it are welded, and all other points are welded in order.

When there is close-line, stitching is related with point's number. Therefore, when 2 polylines are located like parallel, it can stitch well. But, when these are not located parallel at all, it may stitch strangely. When you want to stitch by your means, please stitch 2 open-line.

e) Stitching 2 Points

You can stitch any 2 points. This case is not based on the polyline. It is the same as Weld Tool.

f) Stitching Polybelt

You can stitch 1 polybelt. This case is not based on the polyline. The polybelt is formed by quadrangle-polygons connected as row. Triangle-polygon must not be contained. (Please see Sew(What's the polybelt?)) It stitch like belt -> line.

g) Stitching in other case

"Stitch Center/Side" can function in case of c)-f). But, in other case it functions with the following algorithm.

no any case.
can't stitch

delete polygons besieged by points.

re-analyze whether it's possible.

if possible, stitch!!

So, in case that some polygons are obstructive you can stitch. Especially, in case of f), when triangle-polygon is contained, it can't function. However, it is possible with this specification.
