Research Interests

Urban Sociology & Community and Regional Studies. Both are sociological methods of study on urban societies. As you know the former is influenced by Chicago sociology. The latter has developed peculiar in Japan but it is similar to New Urban Sociology in Europe. Originally its aim was study on Japanese rural society in connection with policies and capitalism in 1940s or more early time.

Community structure and its transformation by research that focus on the relations of organizational entities such as voluntary associations, not-for-profit organizations, neighborhood associations, local and other governments, companies and political groups.

I am member of the research group formed by professors who are interested in NPO from sociology, theory of organization and study of cooperative. We plan to have researches on NPO in Japan, China, Italy, UK and US.

Comparative study of Meals on Wheels in Japan, Australia and US. I've researched on Meals on Wheel in Japan and South Australia while I've been committee member of MOW Japan Association.
I just started collaboration on MOW in Japan and US with an American professor.
