アイルランドの成功に気を良くし、おーしおーしいいぞいいぞ、正月休も行っちゃうぞ、
といって出かけたのだが、折りしも６０年ぶりの寒波が欧州全土をおそい、大雪、
路面凍結とツーリングどころではない日が続き、なにしにいったんだかよく判らない、
精神修養のような旅となった。

コース：雪のないところを求めて列車でさまよい歩く｡ロールモンド（オランダ）−ナミュ
ール−ブリュージュ−オイペン−ブリュージュ−アントワープ｡　
ブリュージュ郊外日帰りツーリング、アルデンヌ地方ナミュールからディナンのコース
などを走りようやく面目を保つ。

地理と風景：　雪でした。鉄道の踏み切りを突っ切ろうとしたら線路でタイヤが横滑りし、
リムがぐにゃりと曲がるほどの大転倒。クルマがきてたら死んでた。みなさん踏切では
一時停止です。

ベストコース：　あんまり走ってないけどしいて言えばブリュージュ郊外の農村風景。

一月の天気：　大寒波のおかげで最低気温は連日零下１０度台。晴れた日でも最高
気温は氷点下。勘弁してくれ。

宿泊：　安めのホテル（バーやカフェの二階が多い）とB&B（看板は出してないので
ツーリストオフィスで紹介してもらわないとわからない）。三千円台から。朝ごはんが
まるっきりコンチネンタルでシンプルなのが物足りなかった。

美味かったもの：屋台で売ってる焼きたてのベルギーワッフル。さすが本場。

Stayed in ; Roelmond, Bruges, Namur, Eupen, Antwerp
Winter in Belgium is just as cold as in Tokyo.... surely so.... normalement,...
but this period was quite abnormal. Furious cold weather took over
Europe , temperature went down below -10's, (many homeless people
lost their lives , I heard) snow covered all over the nation and remained
for several days. roads were all frozen. I stood alone like a fool in
Amsterdam airport, with my packed bike in my arms , asking to myself
"What the hell am I going to do in this snow-covered land?"
Snow went on falling for next few days. I strayed from town to town by train,
in search of place with less snow. Barely I could do some day-ridings ,
around Bruges , Namur-Dinant , and a few more.
It was depressive experience , but I don't regret it. and I would say ,
bike touring in winter is not so crazy at all, if only the weather is not so
crazy like that !
