After 18 years of marriage---and of cooking---Mary recently prepared the worst dinner of her life. The vegetables were overcooked; the meat was burned, the salad wilted. Her husband was silent all through the meal. Then as she started to do the dishes he took her in his arms and gave her a lingering kiss. "What's that for?" she asked. "Well, dear," he said, "tonight you cooked like a bride, so I thought I'd treat you like one." |
