TOYOTA COROLLA LEVIN GT-APEX (E-AE86 4AG) Two Door Coupe

Post-putting goods: FUJITSUBO stainless exaust manifold(4-2-1), exaust pipe and muffler. POTENZA adjuastable Gymkhana shock absorber. TRD coil suprings. TRD stabilizer. TRD break pads. HKS oil cooler kit. Reduction starter moter. CUSCO LSD (MZ Type RS). 15+6.5JJ inchi wheels (195/50/15).
Overhaul situation so far: Engine cylinder head OH. Water pump exchange. Fuel filter and pump exchange. Timing belt exchange. Disk brake rotors excahnge. Shock absorber excange(Normal- GAB - POTENZA). etc. They are regularly OH such as the brakes and clutches.
Suspension system is a secret specification. The TA system exchanges the Lower arms and tie rods were exchanged to the one of E-TA**, because it is about 10mm longer than that of E-AE86. The other parts, such as knuckle arms and strut bars are normal. The negative camber angle becomes 1 degree. However, the car inspection passes.


HOW TO INSTALL OIL COOLER

For the case of HKS Oil Cooler Kit (R-type)



oil cooler

hole A hole is made by hole-saw(diameters 50-60mm). The place of the hole is under battery installation frame. The blade breaks immediately if hole-saw is not turned by an ultra low revolution. It is easy to do pulling out to the drill at the center.

oil filer bracket adapeter Stay of the oil filter bracket adapter is made by oneself. This stay is made of the aluminum board of about 3mm in thickness, measures in gauging with the cardboard. There are no choice to locate this, because there are the power steering system and air conditioner system. So the location is over the exaust manifold, the beside of the power steering vane pump and the beside of the washer tank. This stay was tightened by three points by the screw hole of the power steering vane pump installation screw, washer tank installation screw, and a vacant screw hole on the body. The oil filter bracket in the photograph is wide. Because LAMCO oil sandwich adapter used before puts up together to mesure the oil temperature and the oil pressure. The FUJITSUBO exaust manifold (headers) becomes so high temperature that the plastic cubes around it are melted! When oil leaks and drip on it, .... I am so afraid of this situation. So a heat shield was made by aluminum and set up for safty.

oil cooler coil Stays for the cooler coil are also made by oneself. Three parts are prepared, right and left hangers and bottom stay. They are made by 1mm thickness sheet metal, bending, drilling and welding. And also the cardboard is used to measures in gauging. If as much as 1mm in thickness is made like the angle type, the high rigidity is obtained. For the bottom stay installation, the female screw rivet of M8 was fixed to the frame under radiator. And right and left hangers were fixed with a right and left stop screw of the radiator.

Cable cutter The Aeroquip AQP racing hoses (stainless mesh hoses #10) are measured in gauging and they are installed. The cable cutter is convenient for cutting the hose. It are sequentially connected from the engine block by gauging. Straight and 45 degree fittings are used for filter bypass adapter, two 90 degree fittings and two straight fittings for oil filter brackt, two 90 degree fittings for oil cooler coil. It is confirmed that there are no oil leak etc. at the end. The installation took about five hours.

gauges HKS oil cooler kit has the thermostat, oil flows to the cooler coil when oil temperature up to 75 C. The oil pressure is about 0.5MPa(5.0kgf/cm2) in front of the oil filter. This situation is confirmed by the oil temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge mounted center cluster finish panel. The rest two gauges are water temperature gauge and boost gauge.
