Cocoa API Reference Browser for Mac OS X

This is a browser for the reference document of Cocoa API. You need to install Apple's developer tools.

To download, control + click on the link below, and choose "Download..." from the popup menu.

I'm so sorry that Cocoa Browser ver 0.4 has a bug...

When you launch Cocoa Browser, a window like this will appear. You can open more windows with "New" in "File" menu.

In this window, you can browse the API reference document of Cocoa framework, reorganized in an easy-to-browse (I believe) fashion. You can switch between Objective-C and Java versions of Cocoa API with the pop-up buttom on the toolbar.

Upper part of the window has 4-columned list, which shows the list of classes, methods, etc.

You can select items with mouse click, or typing part of item name. If there are several matches, you can select the next or previous item with space or shift + space.

Lower part of the window has a text view, which shows description of the selected item. You can change the text size with "Magnify" menu. You can also search within the text view or the whole .html file (which basically corresponds to a class) with "Search" sub-menu in "Edit" menu.

Links are displayed with underline, and in blue or purple. Blue links are "internal"; jump to other class or method. Purple links are "external"; target page is displayed with your default web browser associated to ".html" files.

You can go back or forward in browsing history with "Go" menu or right/left arrows on the toolbar. Shift key jumps to the previous or next .html file (class), and option key jumps to the first or last item in the history.
