(2)Material for the mould.
Plastic pipe. (outside diameter 8mm )(photo-2)
Vinyl hose. (outside diameter 12mm, thickness 2mm )(photo-3)
(3)Starch with atomizer.
Adhesive for synthetic rubber.(photo-4、5)
(4)Black dye for leather.(photo-6)
2.Making the mould.
Shape the corner of the edge.
(Japanese call the surrounding form of a SPEAKER UNIT the "Edge")
After heating the 8mm plastic pipe, bend to form a right angle match for
your speaker's shape.(photo-7)
Be careful to shape the right angle accurately and keep it in a flat
plane. Make two like this.
When cooled, slit the pipe in half to form two corner moulds from each. (
Makes 4 )
Join the corners with 8mm vinyl hose also slit parallel to the axis
( create half-pipe ).
Be very careful to slit the vinyl hose at right angles to the axis and
square everything up precisely.(photo-8 )
3.Put water-soaked chamois over the mould.
Atomise starch onto the chamois.
Use less starch at the corners.
Put slit 12mm vinyl hose ( half-pipe ) over the chamois until dry.
(photo-9)
4.Color Dyeing
Apply black leather dye to the chamois.
For a deeper colour, apply to both sides..
5.Cut out the shape.
Be careful not to weaken the corner with miss-cuts. Rather cut the corners
a little wider.
6.Adjsuting hardness.
Use a hair drier to warm the chamois to the proper hardness .
It's not so easy to destroy the shape of chamois.(photo-10)
7.Fasten the movement board in position with adhesive tape.
Remember to take it off before testing.
8.Glueup
Clean up the old glue on the movement board and the frame.
Carefully glue the chamois to the frame of the SPEAKER.
9.Check
Make sure the voice-coil moves freely in the magnet before final gluing.
10.Testing
Use your favourite music. ( Remember to remove the tape. )
