　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　焼締陶のこと
焼締陶は日本で千年の歴史を持つ無釉の焼物です。地味な色合いの中に　　
炎と薪の灰が高温でガラス化した自然釉が織り成し自然界の景色を映し
出します。諸外国の多くは、磁器の完成された器が好まれ、焼締陶は特に
ヨーロッパでもレンガとしての用途としてしか用いられませんでした。
日本人は未完成や不均一のものの中に美しいものを見出す独自の美意識を
持ち、侘びた色合いの焼物を日常の器として愛してきました。
日本の持つ、生かす、そして見立てるという感性、美意識は、世界のどの国にも
ない唯一の文化と芸術を、焼物だけでなく能の秘することの美しさや多くの
ものに伝え残してきました。焼締陶の持つ味がよくなる特性など用の美を知り
尽くした日本の文化を世界や後世に伝え大切にしていきたいと思っております。

　　　　　　Unglazed erthenwere “yakisime”is fired in the most primitive type of kiln called

ana－gama(literally“cave－kiln”).The firing at a high temperature gose on for as long as a week, at the end of one firing, we usually end up having used well over two thousand bundles of firewood such as nara and kunugi(both of the oak family). Ashes in the kiln fall on a vessel, on the surface of which they melt and form an unpredictable natural glaze. Thus, a particular combination of ashes and flame create a different pattern, or what we call “scene” on the surface,each time.
