Protect Rich Forests and Create the Society For All the Living Creatures
   Animals+Trees = Forests

1. Japan Bear and Forest Association
Our symbol is a bear, which represents rich forests. Extensive forests where large animals live can support the lives of all the living creatures as well as industries in our country. Our organization focuses on actions and we are working hard through our various activities to preserve and restore our forests for the next generation.

2. Activities
We work in cooperation with cities and prefectures to:
@ Rectify the existing forestation policies that place too much focus on conifers such as cedars and cypresses and restore natural forests comprised of broad-leaf trees.
A Protect wild animals including bears that help create forests.
B Support the “first” industries (forestry, agriculture, fishery)
3. Origin
JBFA dates back from 1992, when 260 students of Muko-Higashi Junior High School, Amagasaki-city in Hyogo prefecture initiated a campaign to save bears from extinction, which evolved into our activities to protect nature in Japan. JBFA was created in 1997, with a goal to become an environmental-protection organization that rivals larger organizations with similar missions in Europe and the United States. (11,300 members as of Oct 2007)
