| Ryoko was born in Nara, Japan in 1982 and started learning the piano at the age of 6. At the age of 8, she played the 'Million Concert' in Chiba where she received the 'Encouragement Award '. This was a defining momet for Ryoko, as it was during this time that she decided to pursue her interensts in music.
In 1998, she entered Toride Syoyou High School which run courses in music. She was chosen as a role model pianist for the junior schoo; and performed at the summer school concert in her first year. In 2001, she enrolled at Toho Gakuen College of Music in Tokyo and ciltivated her piano skills as a soloist under Ryoko Mashimo, during which time she also became interested in ensemble work. Then she tool part in most concerts and examinations at the College as an accompanist for many musicians such as singers (including coutertenor), string players, wind players and especially flautist. In 2004, she appeared at the Music Festival in Ibaraki as a soloist and was also a finalist in the Japanese Classical Music Competition, The nex year she received 'Patronization Award' from Japanese International League of Artists (JILA) and appeard at the 'Recommended Freshman Concert'. The President of JILA recigbuzed her performance in this time, so arranged for her a recital at the Matsuo Hall in Tokyo. She is now a member of JILA and periodically plays concert as a soloist. In 2006, she moved to England and has studied under Nina Sereda at Trinity College of Music. After finishing her studies in the UK, she is planning to form a piano duo group and carry out performances and workshops in Japan. |
