English Translation of Japanese Laws (Japanese Law Links)
@The English versions of many Japanese laws are now available in the website
of the Cabinet Secretariat. The current page is therefore no longer renewed. As it is, it is a collection
of translations that I collected as of January 2007.
The list hasn't been arranged in English alphabetical order, but English names are found besides the Japanese names. If you go to the page in Japanese ("Japanese" above right), the
use of Ctl + F keys (Command key + F key for Mac) and English key words
will enable you to find the law you are looking for.
Please note that to date, there is no official translation of Japanese law. This is the reason why most of the links claim that the provided translation is "unofficial" or "provisional". When there is a choice of more than one term in English (e.g., Act and Law), one of them is more conventionally used than the other but neither is official, and neither is wrong. Do not waste your time trying to determine whether a translated term or title is "official" in this sense.
