My father on horseback 1940

母の場合、暗い生活が始まったのは太平洋戦争からです。
しかし、結婚前の父はすでに輜重兵として従軍、輜重隊は
狙撃や砲撃の標的になりますから、日中戦争で死の恐怖を
体験、深夜の行軍中に事故で歯を失い、生涯入れ歯生活、
上官に殴られた顎の傷も、死ぬまで消えませんでした。

While marching through a battlefield at midnight,
the horse leading a heavy machine fell to the creek
and my father lost all teeth in that accident.
