2011年３月１１日、東日本大震災の当日、私は東京・霞ヶ関にある業界新聞でDTPの仕事をしておりました。
突然の大きな揺れに、机の下に潜りました。が、揺れはいつまでたっても止みません。
とても長い時間だったような気がします。
少し収まってホッとしたそのとき、編集局長が「東北の地震の余波だッ」と叫びました。
東京直下型地震ではなかったのだ、と一瞬気を緩めましたが、次の瞬間に、東京でこんなに揺れたら東北は…と青ざめました。
テレビに写った映像は、家屋が模型のように濁流に流されていく場面でした。

その夜はそのまま会社で夜を明かしました。土日はなぜか死んだように眠りました。

海外在住の、日本語がわからない友人から心配のメールをもらいました。
皆、東京も相当被害があったと思っていたフシがあります。実際、西側はそれほどでもなかったです。
私もあまり英語が上手くないので、じゃ携帯写真を載せれば状況が伝わるかと思い、猫札HPの隅っこで英語キャプションのページを始めました。正直申しまして、地震大嫌いで余震に怯えながらも出勤していたので、毎日必死でアップしていました。被災地の方々に恥ずかしいくらいの臆病者です。

日本語ページはとりあえず３月19日から４月25日までです。
友人が撮った、近隣の写真も掲載しています。
今からみれば、なんていうことのない東京西側の日常の写真ですが、どうぞ、ごらんください。
On March 11, 2011, I was working at an newspaper office in Kasumigaseki, political town of Tokyo.
A big earthquake was generated suddenly, and I evacuated under the desk. But, the rolling never stopped.
I felt like having been very long time.

Then an executive editor shouted, "It was the aftermath of Northeastern area's earthquake".
Oh, It was not Tokyo inland earthquake, I carmed down for an instant.
But soon I realized, how did Tohoku turn out when I shook so much even in Tokyo?

The picture which appeared in TV scared me. It was the scene where houses were carried away to the muddy stream like small landscape figure.
I just spent night in the evening in a company. Returned to home next day, I slept deadly on Saturday and Sunday.

Some friends in foreign countries gave emails of the worry to me.
I think that they misunderstood that Tokyo also caught the considerable damage like Tohoku area.
Because my English was not good, I thought it is better to show mobile photographs.

And I mede some pages in my homepage with English caption.
