The most important point was "Our trip was short as 4 nights stay in Manhattan".

We would like to stay a hotel having rooms with kitchen.
I wonder which area to stay in Manhattan.
I checked web site and guide book to read comment of other tourist.
Then I decided to reserve HOTEL BEACON on Broadway at 75th Street.
The room rate was $225 for spring special.

2. FIRST DAY
: May 3rd/2004
-transfer to New York

The flight was good. But my daughters was feeling bad with long time flight.
We enjoy "una-don" in the air plane.

ANA flight to JFK was arrived almost on time(10:30am)
Immigration procedure took about 20-30 minutes.
Last time we visited NYC, It took 1 hour.
So there is "KAIZEN" of immigration procedure.
We use taxi for the transportation from JFK airport to Manhattan.
The shuttle bus fee for one person is cheaper than taxi.
In case of 4 person, taxi is reasonable.
We checked in the BEACON HOTEL 12am.
The hotel located Broadway 75th st.
After a short rest, we went to walking and shopping near the hotel.
It's was light rain in NY.
Most of Japanese use umbrella when it is light rain,
but foreign people do not use.
My daughter was wondering why NYC people don't use umbrella.

-lincoln center-
At first, we was walking down the Broadway to 61st st.
There was a lot of CD of opera in the shop at lincoln center.
My wife bought some CDs.

Then we went up to 81st along Broadway.
Most of the people in NYC across the inter section under the red light.
My daughter was very interested in the situation.
Because they learned "STOP under th red light" in the school frequently.
Of course I could not explain well.

On the way to ZABER'S, we bought metro cards.
It's convenient that we can use credit card to buy these.
I wanted 4 metro cards.
And I was be able to buy first and second cards.
Then I bought 3rd one. But the machine didn't accept my credit card.
I'm was very worried that.
If I couldn't use my credit card, this travel will be tough.
Anyway I bought 3rd and 4th metro cards by cash.

-ZABER'S
ZABER'S is famous deli for Japanese tourist.
Last time we stayed at the apartment type hotel located Amsterdam st.
And we often went shopping for our meal to ZABER'S.
We bought food for today's supper and tomorrow's breakfast.
Before payment I was a little bit nervous if my credit card will be OK or not.
Then the result was OK.

-H&H
H&H offers simple and delicious beagles.
The beagle have glutinous dough.

-fairway
Fairway is the nearest deli from the hotel BEACON.

We ate light supper in the hotel room.

After shopping we returned the hotel room and went out for lunch and AMNH.

-McDonald's
We took lunch at McDonald's located near 81st st on Broadway.
The taste of hamburger was similar to Japanese

-American Museum of Natural history
It's takes about 15 minutes to AMNH from McDonald's on Broadway.
Rose Center for earth and space opened a few years ago.
So I would like to see that exhibition.
The exhibition was interested for me history of space and the scale of material

In front of a fossil of Naumann's elephant

-Good enough to eat

We went "Good enough to eat" for supper.

When we were sitting the deck in the sea port, there was a NY waterway's ship for sight seeing on the east river.
The was the same ship we ride on the day before yesterday.
I felt that we were watched by ourself the day before yesterday.

-Times square

-Toysrus

There was a Ferris wheel in the store.
It is very famous so it need waiting to get the Ferris wheel on weekend.

because our daughters were tired.

We bought three posters in NYC and bring them back to home.
We went to do-it-yourself store to search panels for four posters.
And we knew that it's necessary to order a panel for the poster of world map.
Because the poster of world map was too big so that it wasn't fit ready-made panel.

We order special sized panel for the poster of world map.
