This butterfly flies so slowly like as other Danaidae group that it seems to be floating white handkerchief in the air. At hot and languorous noon they are floating along the jungle and we feel as if the time stops.

Usually they fly at a height of about ten meters so it is hard to take the photo. The only chance is when they fly down to suck the nectar of the flower.

The species is endemic for Sulawesi and adjacent archipelagos and they are found from lowland to highland with 1000m in altitude. This butterfly has harmful poison due to host plant so some other Sulawesi butterflies act as mimicry. An example is the female of Papilio jordani ,which is very similar as the model, I.brancardii. Unfortunately I could not observe this swallow-tail butterfly, because the species distributes in strictly localized region.
