Conference to Promote Shoshihara – Village-making in Ishikawa

Shoshihara is located in the mountains, near the border with Toyama Prefecture.  Currently it faces a common problem in Japan – the depopulation of the countryside.  So, the neighborhood has created a special conference under the theme of “Village Making.”  It is dedicating to promoting Shoshihara as a place of nature and beauty, where country life can truly be enjoyed.  To lure people from the big cities, Shoshihara boasts of a better life by implementing various events such as the Spring Festival, the Open Sky Market, the Kusagi (Wild Plants) Festival, and other events that focus on traditional and simple country food, life, and culture.  The Conference also operates a camp site.  Additionally, it produces specialty products, specific to this locale, such as the Seiryu brand of sake, which is made from rice grown in Shoshihara.  During the Noto Summit, the Conference will prepare traditional village food for our American visitors. Please enjoy the real heart of traditional village life.
