16-21 October 2001 "ARTIST-INITIATIVE LINKS IN 2001 Puddles. 2000-1999 Puddles Report Exhibition" artport2001-Open Studio Warehouse NO.20 of port of Nagoya, JAPAN W cube, this name comes from the abbreviation of Works, Words and World, it explores and makes a new relationship between Art and Public. This group was founded in October, 1998, by the artists who tried to realize those issues as art projects, run by the grants from art foundations, support from companies, private contributions and the fees from the members. Until now, W3 has organized "Puddles" an international exchange program and "Eve-roots" a series of group exhibitions as dialogues based on Gallery Surge, Tokyo. Ideas of the artistic projects are drawn up at the members' meetings, and the members independently try to turn the projects into reality. The various constituents and generations of this group, Visual artists, Performers, Architects, Art-college students, function as a meeting point for interdisciplinary discussions on artistic themes. There is no limit for the membership if one has sympathy and understanding for the artist initiative activities. Further in the future, W3 tries to plan combined projects like cubes through this manner of dialogues and also to inform the Public about them by using the Internet and publishing the catalogues and etc., at the same time with organizing art projects.
