Fan DE Nagoya Art Exhibition 2008 : hope - society, community and Art

What is it that we are able to do, and what is it that we looking for?
We planned this exhibition with the idea of introducing artists and groups that are grasping for relevance to society in a present world situation of continually turbulent change.
Fifteen years ago, the theme of the exhibition would not have attracted many participants.
Although each of the artists' styles and the ideas behind the works in the exhibition  are different, the exhibition comprises people who, in a serious and thoughtful manner, are attempting a variety of approaches with regard to society, and  are experimenting.
The word 'participants' does not refer only those who exhibit or engage in the dialogue.
The organization of the show was carried out with the cooperation of those who supported behind the scenes, people who are related through everyday life and whose engagement is really important, and people from the public who tackled the various problems in a straightforward way.
Of the the things we hoped for were the happenings that occur in places that cannot be seen, considered daily and realised in a conscientious way, some of which are art works.
We would like to present this exhibition to like-minded people of the art world who did not participate in this exhibition, to those on the periphery and to the children who carry the burden of the future.
