Born in 1961 in Pangasinan, Philippines. Lives and works in Quezon City.
In 2003, Quinto embarked on a project in collaboration with young girls
who had suffered sexual abuse, titled "Soft Dreams and Bed Stories"
(Havana Biennale, Cuba) featuring toy-like soft sculptures and mattresses.
Quinto's exhibit at Yokohama 2005 will also feature soft sculpture as
part of this ongoing series. By incorporating symbols of family life
into the exhibition, Quinto conveys her conviction that everyday life
is inextricably linked to creative and artistic expression - a characteristic
of Philippine culture - and that it is when these are fused that social
and political issues can be addressed and gender policies promoted.
Apart from her creative activities, Quinto, through her position heading
the women's art organization KASIBULAN, organizes activities to promote
the improvement of the status of women in art.
