Norman Hudson Memorial Award

If you know any person who has done outstanding work in soil and water conservation,
especially at the international level, please send the name and a short
description of the work to us, in order that our Awards Committee can judge
the Norman Hudson Memorial Award for this year. Please send your nominations
to the chairman of the Awards Committee, Prof. Stanimir Kostadinov, Faculty of
Forestry, University of Belgrade, Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro, kost@eunet.yu.
The deadline for receiving all nominations is July 31, 2005. The background to
the award and regulations for judging it were published in the newsletter issue
19(4), as follows:



Norman Hudson Memorial Award nominations due

Members are encouraged to submit nominations of deserving persons for the
Norman Hudson Memorial Award. This is the highest honor bestowed on an individual
by the Association. It is given for distinguished service in recognition of international
accomplishments in soil and water conservation. The award is named after
Norman Hudson, whose exemplary professional career was devoted to the
cause of global soil and water conservation.



Criteria

* The award may be given to Association members or nonmembers.

* No elected officer of the Association shall be eligible for the award while holding office.

* The service and accomplishments of the nominee shall have made major
and widely recognized contributions to soil and water conservation on the
international level.


Nomination Procedure
* Any Association member may make nominations.

* Nominators should submit nominations in narrative form of up to 1,000 words.
The supporting material should document the international scope of the nominee's
accomplishments, including such items as professional achievements in natural
resource publications and papers written or delivered at professional meetings.
Service to the Association either as a member or nonmember and service to other
professional or conservation organizations can also be included.


Selection
* The Association's Awards Committee will review all nominations and select the recipient.

* The award will be presented at an event designated by the President of the Association.

* The award will be given to no more than one individual annually. No award shall be made
if a suitable candidate is not nominated or if the A wards Committee decides the nominees
do not fulfill adequately the criteria for the award.
