A series of six workshops in English and Japanese for everyone interested in peace education: learning about it, changing our attitudes, and becoming involved in peace education ourselves. The workshops are for students, teachers, community leadersc – anyone who is interested in making a difference!

The six peace-building workshops are from October 2009 to March 2010, on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 2:00 to 5:00pm. Course fee: 2,500 yen – or 600 yen per session.

 

Schedule and major themes:

1. (17 Oct) What is Peace Education?

2. (21 Nov) Human Rights, Human Responsibilities

3. (19 Dec) Peace and War: Personal Peace, Local Peace, and Global Peace

4. (16 Jan) Non-Violent Conflict Resolution; Forgiveness and Reconciliation

5. (20 Feb) Peace Classes; Whole School Approach; Involving the Community

6. (20 Mar) Being a Peace Educator; Working towards Possible other Futures

 

The workshops will be led by Krishna Somanah, from the beautiful island of Mauritius. Krishna has various experiences through working as a peace educator, promoting peace in high schools in both Mauritius and Hiroshima.
