BIRDS:→SEE NEXT PAGE

  • This area (Boca Tapada) is one of the best place for bird watching in Costa Rica. I think this place is better than Cano Negro, because not so many bird watchers come to this area and water birds and forest birds are observed at the same place.

For example of special birds around here; Green Ibis, Agami heron (Chestnut-bellied Heron), King Vulture, White Hawk, Forest Falcons, Great Green Macaw, Scarlet Macaw, Hummingbirds, Black-throated Trogon, Slaty-tailed Trogon, Rufous Motmot, Broad-billed Motmot, Kingfishers, Great Jacanar, Pale-billed Woodpecker, Collared Aracari, Toucans, Snowy Cotinga, Red-capped Manakin, Gray Catbird, Scarlet Tanager, Blue Dacnis, Scarlet-thighed Dacnis, Olive-backed Euphonia, Black-headed Saltator, Yellow-Tailed Oriole, Scarlet-rumped Cacique, etc.
  • Lots of birds are observed around feeder table at the garden in the lodge.
  • They organize boat safari along the San Crlos River to the border of Nicaragua. May oberve a lot of water birds.
