7. Wildlife of Willson's Garden

(Las Cruces Biological Station)

LOCATION:

  • South-western part of Costa Rica.
  • Near San Vito town

ACCESS:

  • By bus from San Jose to San Vito, takes about 9 hours.
  • By taxi from San Vito to Willson's Garden, takes about 15 minutes.

ACCOMMODATION:

  • There is an accomodation in the Garden. But need reservation to OTS (Organization for Tropical Studies) refering to http://www.ots.ac.cr

  • This garden is one of the best places to observe forest birds in Costa Rica. Most of them don't mind humanbeings.
  • This is the best place to observe Fiery-billed Aracari and Emerald Toucanetclosely in Costa Rica. Especially, they often comes to bananas for feeding.
  • You can buy a "checklist of the birds of Las Cruces Biological Station" at the shop in the garden.
