Long-tailed Tit

Abundant resident in Japan. They make a flock with Great Tits, Coal Tits, Varied Tits, etc. in winter.

Varied Tit

Abundant resident through out Japan. They make a flock with Long-tailed Tit, Coal Tits, Great Tits, etc. in winter.

Great Tit

(Parus major)

Abundant resident through out Japan. They make a flock with Long-tailed Tit, Coal Tits, Varied Tits, etc. in winter.

Pale Thrush

(Turdus pallidus)

Common winter visitor. They live in a thicket, so difficult to observe them.

White's Thrush

(Zoothera dauma)

Not so common resident. They live in dark woods. Easy to observe them in winter.

Dusky Thrush

(Turdus naumanni)

Very common winter visitor. They are observed a lot in a grass land.

Common resident in Japan. Abundant in the Nara park. Sing very soft and mellow voice. Observed in wood land.

Brambling

Common winter visitor in Japan. Sometimes make a very big flock. Observed on the ground.

Uncommon winter visitor in Nara. Breeds in northern Japan and some high mountain in Honshu Is.

Japanese White-eye

(Zosterops japonicus)

Abundant resident in Japan except Hokkaido. Sing high-pitch and very beautiful voice. Observed even in cities.
