Wildlife of Ampijoroa Forestry Station

LOCATION: Western Madagascar About 500Km from Antananarivo ACCESS: About 12hrs drive on the bad road from Antananarivo to Ampijoroa. Getting to Majunga from Antananarivo by air About 1.5hrs drive from Majunga. ACCOMMODATION: There was no accomodation and only camping was permitted in 1996. Simple accomodation was building in the station at that time.

Examples of the key species aroud here are Madagascar fish eagle, White-breasted mesite, Red-capped coua, Coquerel's coua, Crested coua, Madagascar green pigeon, Schlegel's asity, Van Dam's vanga, Roufous Vanga, Sickle-billed vanga, Greater vasa parrot, Madagascar pigmy kingfisher, etc.... Examples of the key species are Coquerel's sifaka, Mongoose lemur, Brown lemur, Western woolly lemur, Milne-Edward's sportive lemur, Fat-tailed dwarf lemur, Grey mouse lemur, etc...
