Wildlife of Ranomafana National Park

LOCATION: Eastern Madagascar About 470Km from Antananarivo ACCESS: About 6hrs drive on the good road from Antananarivo to Fianarantsoa. About 2.5hrs drive in the dart road from Fianarantsoa. ACCOMMODATION: There is a new, good and clean hotel near the park gate. It was called Hotel Domain Nature. Station Thermal de Ranomafana is in Ranomafana villege. It has hot spring. But, not so confortable.

Examples of the key species aroud here are Blue coua, Red-fronted coua, Pollen's vanga, Velvet asity, Sunbird asity, Pitta-like ground roller, Scaly ground roller, Short-legged ground roller, Brown mesite, Henst's goshoke, Madagascar flufftail, Slender-billed flufftail, Forest rock-thrush, Collared nightjar, Cuckoo roller, Common jery, Green jery, etc.... ANIMALS;→see next page. Golden bamboo lemur is the most famous in this park, but it is not common. They are newly discovered in 1986. Examples of the key species are Golden bamboo lemur, Greater bamboo lemur, Grey bamboo lemur, Milne-Edward's sifaka, Red-bellied lemur, Red-fronted brown lemur, Brown mouse lemur, etc... If you are lucky, you can observe Malagasy Striped Civet at night. VEGETATION; Montane rainforest
