"Rice Story"

This is a story of "rice".



Generally speaking, Japanese people love to eat rice, so do I. Rice, as you may know, is used to cook sushi or else. There are many different kinds of rice. Rice for sushi is some of them.



Japan is very convenient country to plant rice because of its different four seasons. Usually the farmers plant rice in the muddy field in spring. Then they harvest rice in fall. In spring and summer, I used to go and catch frog, tadpole and other creatures in the rice field. It was fun! Still I go and see if there is something these days.



I love the changing colors of rice from season to season. Between spring to summer, it is fresh green. Then to fall, it is changing to yellow. For the first, rice needs a lot of water in the field. In fall, the rice field has no more water. We have the problem of coming typhoon between summer and early fall. If unlucky, some typhoon damage rice fields by strong wind and flood.



When you eat sushi, please remind this "rice story". I am thinking to show the "belt-conveyer-style" Sushi restaurant in Japan soon. It is less expensive and interesting hi-tech sushi restaurant!
